Established in 2020, our Data Science program combines computer science, mathematics, and statistics to prepare students for careers in data analysis, engineering, and science through cutting-edge curriculum and hands-on projects.

About the Department

The Department of Data Science was established in 2020 with an initial intake of 60 students, offering a unique blend of computer science, mathematics, and statistics. Our experienced faculty members possess domain expertise and global certifications in cutting-edge technologies, supported by modern infrastructure that enables students to work on diverse Data Science use cases.

We emphasize active learning strategies through project-based learning, internships with domain-specific organizations, and funding for innovative projects. Students are encouraged to develop technology solutions for community problems, aligning with our vision of socially responsible data science.

Programme Educational Outcomes (PEOs)

Programme Outcomes (POs)

PO1 Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 Conduct Investigations: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5 Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

The Department of Data Science, started in 2020, builds on our institution’s two decades of experience in quality engineering education. Data Science has been identified by AICTE and Govt. of India as one of nine critical emerging areas.

The explosion of data from smartphones, social media, and online applications has created an unprecedented need for professionals who can store, process, and analyze this heterogeneous data. Our program uniquely blends statistics with computer science engineering to meet this demand.

With an acute shortage of skilled Data Science professionals, our graduates enjoy unlimited opportunities. As department head, I lead a team of certified faculty members committed to ensuring professional career success for all our Data Science students.
